The world famous Jamaica Dog Team is located at Chukka Cove farm and offers two distinct tours; The Experience and The Encounter.

The moment you arrive, your host Isabella will give you a Mush Mon Jamaican welcome and then it’s off to the ‘Dog Yard.’

Learn the amazing history of Sled Dog Sports and the fascinating story of how we brought this traditional winter sport to Jamaica.

See the only Sleddog Museum south of the Arctic Circle; hear stories from our Jamaican Mushers about their grueling races in Alaska and the Yukon Territory. Learn about our mutts most of whom came to us from shelters like the Jamaica SPCA. We call them our “Second Chance Stars”. Watch the trailer of their documentary, Sun Dogs.

Then it is into the kennels to meet the mutts who will all greet you with a ‘lick and a handshake’, learn their names, hear their life stories, pet, cuddle and hug these magnificent mutts.

For the Experience

Be a musher for the day but leave the cold behind; assist with the harnessing of the team as they eagerly await their favorite ride and jump into our custom sled – be sure to fasten your seatbelt - for the ride of your life! Once onboard the five seater Buggy, our experienced mushers will get you moving with a “Hike up”, or “Gee” and “Haw”, commands our dogs love to hear; off you go into the Jamaican countryside. While on the trail you will visit the location where legendary screen star Steve McQueen shot the movie Papillion. After a pit stop at Papillion’s Cove complete with refreshments and photo op, it's “Hike up” and homeward bound… Back to the kennels, where you can give treats and heaps of love to your dog team for a job well done.

For the Encounter

Help your Jamaican Musher harness his dogs, and watch as he takes them out for a thrilling high speed exhibition run using a “Dry-land Rig” that we use for racing. The dogs can hit speeds of 30MPH as they charge around the Doggie Arena. This run will bring back memories of Charlton Heston and the chariot race in the Hollywood classic movie Ben Hur.
